In 1983, nestled in the heart of Taichung, Taiwan, a little tea shop named Chun Shui Tang took a whimsical risk. Hsiuhwei Lin, in a moment of playful curiosity, decided to add tapioca to her tea - and just like that, bubble milk tea, or "boba," was born. Today, while the world enjoys this sweet delight from plastic cups, back at Chun Shui Tang, the classic footed soda glass still holds the original, irresistible charm of the first boba.
